👤 Custom Rep Role

Releases: Backend 2.86 (October 1, 2025) Web 2.82 (October 1, 2025)OverviewUntil now, SPOTIO accounts were limited to three fixed roles: Admin, Manager, and Sales Rep. While admins could customize permissions for Sales Reps and Managers, all end users assigned as Sales Reps shared the exact same visibility and permissions—making it difficult for companies with multiple types of reps (e.g., canvassers, junior reps, senior reps) to differentiate access.With Custom Rep Role, SPOTIO is introducing a new customizable user type that will provide flexible, account-specific role management. Admins can now enable a new role (called Sales Rep 2 by default), rename it to whatever they choose (e.g., Canvasser, Senior Rep), and assign users to it with its own unique permission set.This release lays the foundation for a more robust Role Creator coming in the future.Key Enhancements A new Sales Rep 2 role is available under Settings > General > Permissions & Security. Admins can: Rename the role to any custom title (e.g., Junior Rep, Canvasser). Configure permissions independently from the existing Sales Rep role. Set visibility rules (record, activity, and object-level permissions) just like current Sales Rep/Manager roles. In Users & Teams, admins can now assign users directly to this new role. The role is controlled by a Role Creator toggle in Back Office. Once enabled, it cannot be turned off. Functions identically to the Sales Rep role but with fully customizable permissions and visibility. ✅ BenefitCustom Rep Role gives organizations more control over how field reps interact with data. Companies can now: Create separate roles for junior vs. senior reps. Limit visibility for canvassers while providing broader access for closers. Simplify onboarding by assigning users to tailored roles that fit their actual responsibilities.
